During the last few years the independent petrol stations of the UK have disappeared at an astounding rate. Since 1997 when there were 11,870 the number still trading in 2010 has dropped to 5,650. Many of those remaining are branded by the major global companies e.g. Shell: Mobil: BP. This project endeavours to capture the uniqueness of current and recently closed petrol stations and draws reference to the gradient of decline.
